Property from an Important Private Collection

On November 4 in Philadelphia, Freeman’s will proudly present Echoes of the Past, a remarkable collection assembled over decades by a discerning European collector. Anchored in Old Master drawings and paintings of exceptional quality, the collection extends into the 19th and early 20th centuries with enduring names such as Giuseppe de Nittis, Giovanni Boldini and Federico Zandomeneghi.

The sale is led by Carlo Dolci’s exquisitely detailed Sacra Conversazione, an exceptionally rare early work painted on copper, as well as a recently discovered drawing by Parmigianino, once known only through an 18th-century etching. French refinement and sculptural drama are represented by François Le Moyne’s delicate pastel and Prosper d’Epinay’s striking terracotta bust of Sarah Bernhardt as Hermione.
