Clars Auctions will hold its Important Fine Art Auction on Thursday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. Our February Auction is filled with an impressive array of works by celebrated painters, printmakers, and sculptors. Highlights include paintings by Margaret Keane (American, 1927?2022), a painter whose internationally recognized work depicts figures, often young women, and children, with her signature large, expressive eyes. Also featured is Richard Pettibone (American, 1938?2024), a conceptual Pop artist who recreated other prominent artists? work in miniature. Growing out of the absurdist tradition of Dada artists like Marcel Duchamp, Pettibone took the wildly famous works of his contemporaries like Andy Warhol?s ?Marilyn? screenprints and Roy Lichtenstein?s comic strip-inspired paintings and appropriated them in a manner he defined as part mockery and part tribute. The auction also includes important works by Conrad Marca-Relli, Richard Diebenkorn, Granville Redmond, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn and more. Bidding will be available by phone, absentee bid, or live online.
