Silver & Objects of Vertu
The summer silver sale at Chiswick Auctions contains some precious and captivating expressions that single out the silver department as one of the most prominent nationwide. The strength of the non-European section can be summarized through a group of spouted wares; a dragon handled tea service from Yokohama, a truly rare example of a Burmese service replete with kettle, a fantastic elephant handled service by the master of all Indian silversmithing Oomersi Mawji, a set never before seen on the market, and perhaps most appealing of all - a Thai silver gilt and niello water pot (Ka Nam).
