The Spring 2003 Stamp & Collectibles Auction

One of the Finest Canadian Stamp Collections

to be Auctioned in Decades

Aurora Galleries International of Bell Canyon, California is proud to announce
the inclusion of “An Engineer’s Collection”, a major mint
Canadian stamp collection in our March 12th Auction. This collection consists
of mainly mint singles (there are only about 30 used stamps included) in mostly
VF condition with gum. It would appear as if only two major stamps are omitted
from this collection (the 2c laid paper (Scott No. 32) and the 1c on 2/3 of
3c Port Hood Provisional (Scott No. 88C). The collection also includes back
of the book issues (Airs, War Tax, Officials, etc) as well as classic booklet
panes.

Highlight of the collection is the fabled 1851, 12p black in unused condition
(Scott No. 3, cat. $80,000) with full four margins and rich color (horizontal
crease). Another key issue is a mint pair of the 1c on 1/3 on 3c, Port Hood
Provisional (Scott No. 88B) with part OG and signed Stanley Gibbons and Peter
Holcombe, Ex. Ferrari and Dale Liechtenstein (unpriced as mint in Scott).

Of particular importance are the inclusion in the collection of virtually every
shade, paper (no imperfs) and perf variety in the Large and Small Queen issues
to say nothing of the other classic issues. Included are virtually all of the
perf 11-1/2x12 varieties, the paper varieties (i.e. the 3c red, Unitrade No.
25iii on white blotter paper, cat. C$7,500), the watermark varieties (i.e. the
15c gray, mint, OG, one of two known, Scott No. 30d, cat. $9,000) as well as
the shade and color varieties. Virtually all of the key stamps have one or more
Canadian or US certificates and virtually all issues are defect free.

This collection will be offered in about 150 individual lots (and includes
a mint Canada collection balance, virtually complete from Scott No. 160 to date,
estimated at $10/15,000) as part of Aurora’s regularly scheduled March
12th stamp Auction. Other material included in the sale (an additional 150 lots)
includes complete mint collections of San Marino and Vatican, large Russian
cover lots (one man’s collection) and exceptional complete unexploded
US booklets (from the 1930s to date). Let the fun begin.
