Travel, Natural History, Science & Medicine

An extensive Egyptian collection includes The Royal Cemeteries of Kush, Dows Dunham, 1950 estimated at £1,000-1,500 and volumes 1-89 of The Journal of Egyptian Archaeology, 1914-2003 at £1,500-2,000. A far-reaching Travel section includes The Soft Porcelain of Sèvres by Edouard Garnier, 1892, (£1,500-2,000), Picturae Etruscorum in vasculis, Giovanni Battista Passeri, 1767 estimated at £6,000-8,000 and David Roberts' The Holy Land 1842-1849 at £4,000-6,000.

Natural History contains an extremely rare copy of Ambroise Verschaffelt's Nouvelle Iconographie des Camellias from 1850. This lavishly illustrated copy is one of the most beautiful books on camellias. The De Belder copy (1987) appears to be the only complete set to have appeared at auction over the last 30 years and is expected to reach £12,000-16,000. The sale also includes Traité des Arbres Fruitiers by Henri Louis Duhamel du Monceau from 1768 at £8,000-12,000.

The latter part of the sale is dedicated to 19th and 20th Century Photographs. Early 19th Century Travel scenes include Egypt, Africa, Asia, France, India, Italy and the Middle East. From the 20th Century, familiar names such as Cecil Beaton, Michael Cooper and Sam Taylor-Wood also appear.
