Country, Asian, MCM, Art & Stick Spatter
Featuring a collection of Asian items including carved jade, embroidered textiles, several artworks including several scrolls from a renowned religious leader's collection.
Country items follow with an unusually cased Riley Whiting tall clock, a dozen samplers, watercolor, ink and graphite artworks and other primitives. An old Armonk estate didn't offer much except for an excellent rosewood dresser sans mirror signed A. Roux, a fine birdseye maple and walnut sewing stand with an old paper tag stating simply ''Vanderbilt" and a rare Hunzinger chair.
Twenty lots of a diverse offering of mid century furniture and art mostly from an old Scarsdale mansion follow with several upholstered pieces, an excellent Baker dining room, a set of eight Widdicomb chairs, and a grouping of Japanese art from the 1970's. A trip to Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania yielded several artworks including two large oils of the Delaware River by Julius Montalant and Eugene C. Frank as well as watercolors by George Coates Raddin and Charles Edmund Dana and a folk art oil of crows by Guy McCoy.
After more country and another block of Chinese scrolls and Asian items, a collection of 60 different Longaberger baskets as a lot, five Rogers Groups including 'One More Shot" and a collection of iron book presses, the first block of stick spatter will be offered. With an eye to color and rarity the collection is highlighted by several Rabbit pieces and includes several large lots grouped by pattern.
The first session will close with ten lots of silver overlay and gilt decorated Lenox sets and a dozen or so oriental estate carpets.
With Session Two immediately following, the pace as well as the diversity increases as the 100 lot an hour portion of the auction begins. The following 200 lots are a continued mix of great smalls, furniture and art.
Expect an extensive selection of artwork many of which to be sold in large lots, a tremendous collection of Stangl pottery to be sold as a lot & lots more
