You are very correct that one of the most important things to consider when bidding in an online auction is the procedures and costs associated with picking up/shipping your items. We encourage potential bidders to seek quotes prior to bidding as some shipping charges can be quite expensive. We have a list of recommended shipping companies on our website which are updated weekly. At this time we are unable to offer in house shipping but it is something we are considering for the future. Terry, Thank you for this fair and honest review. We do work hard to accurately describe our lots, we use a combination of information provided by our consigners, online research & our 30 + years of experience in the auction industry. We do keep a rapid pace with our weekly auctions and sometimes our descriptions fall short. You do make a good point that previewing in person is always a good idea & reaching out for more photos or a better condition report prior to bidding can be quite helpful when previewing in person isn’t an option. Please accept our apologies and know that we are always striving to improve the online sales experience for our customers & we will address this issue with our catalog team. We are always working to improve our shipping process but as we do not offer in house shipping we are often at the mercy of the shipping companies. Jeff, thanks for this review. You are absolutely correct, Gallery Auctions does not offer in house shipping. It is the responsibility of the buyer to remove purchased property at his or her expense after the auction, or to make shipping arrangements. It is also the buyers responsibility to get any quotes and be aware of the transportation charges involved. On our website we do have a great list of incredible shipping companies that we recommend and that have been used successfully by other customers. We recognize the need for afforbible shipping options for all items we sell and are committed to providing as many reputable options as possible. In an effort to provide these options we have recently begun to interview additional shipper companies for smalls items. We hope to have a few more options in the coming weeks.
