When buying a Piece (or Pieces) at Auction the Auction House/Gallery DOES matter. Dane Fine Art Auctions should be at the top of anyone list.

this is not the first time writing a reference for Dane and I'm sure that it will not be the last time! Well packed and documented and unbelievably fast delievered to Germany-our story will continue!

I won a lithograph, "The Gluttony" purported to be by Salvador Dali at a Dane auction in January, 2021. The lithograph arrived with a "Certificate of Authenticity" issued by Dane Fine Art stating a Dali Gallery stamp of authenticity was on the revere of the lithograph. No such stamp existed, nor was the piece signed. I reached out to Dane Fine Art five times to request an explanation or return but three phone messages by me and two emails went unanswered. The return only occurred after I sought the intervention of Live Auctioneers. In my experience Dane Fine Art was careless and unreliable.

After charging me the incorrect price (2 instead of 1) of the 3 pieces I purchased arrived. 1 of them WAS NOT what I had ordered. When I contacted them saying they had sent the wrong piece and that I was not paying my balence due UNTIL they had sent the correct piece I had ordered, they stopped communication all together. Now, instead of having 3 pieces I like (granted, with a balence due) I have 1 piece I like 1 that I really DIS-like, and NEVER recieved the FIRST piece which is why I wanted to be in the auction in the first place. Since this whoe mess, I have been left a NEGATIVE review that other auctioneers will not hear my side of it, and not sell to me. NOT a peep for trying to make the situation a good one for me AT ALL! VERY UNHAPPY!

I found their listing to be misleading. The piece is obviously ripped from a book though the deckled edge was not shown in the lot images. The lot description does not explicitly say it is from a book; their description "Publisher: Societe Internationale d'Art. Suite: XXe Siecle" is in no way clear it's a book. These books range from £ 30-100 online. I'm not sure this can be categorized as "lithograph on paper" unless they really me a lithograph which has then been printed on paper in the publishing process.

Very satisfied with my three experiences with Dane. I would buy with them exclusively and avoid the scammers and frauds that are ubiquitous on this site.

The art was described well. Packaging was excellent. Speed of shipping/arrival was OK but I think the shipper (FedEx) was having some unavoidable problems due to weather. Didn't like that I waited all day for "signature required" package to arrive, which didn't actually arrive until two days later.

Dane Fine Art Auctions misrepresents cut out pages of books as original and rare art. After my purchase the seller conceded that the image was cut out of a book but refused to accept a return. They tried to pull the wool over my eyes by emailing a photo of the colophon of a limited edition book but the edition number of that book doesn't even match the edition number penciled in on the page out of a book I received. A reputable art seller would accept a return on a misrepresented item but reputable doesn't describe this seller.
