Easy to work with and high quality objects.

I have won twice at auction thru Doyen Auction on some William Spratling Jewelry lots. I had some questions regarding payment, shipping, and handling. The owner responded to my questions fairly quickly. The process seemed to take a little longer but that may be because they seem to be a smaller auction house. Overall, I have been satisfied with the results and appreciate that the owner did respond to my questions in a timely and friendly manner.

Yes, I have made several attempts to cancel the item following the sent attachments through auctioneers but it will not go through. I did hear back from Devon that it has been cancelled as agreed but today received another notification that won't allow me to caned it a second time. Please advise

Mr. Doyen is very professional and pleasant to work with, and I enjoyed talking to him. I bought a small Indian painting from his auction which I thought looked antique but turned out to be more contemporary. In fairness to the auctioneer, no age or period or specific locale was provided in the lot description in the catalog, so the mistaken assumption was completely mine. Still, the materials, the retro style, and the slight surface dirt were meant to convey age for a relatively contemporary piece.

Biggest takeaway is that items have hidden reserves in excess of the low estimate. This is a very deceptive practice, and when I communicated with the auction house, they didn’t understand why this is wrong. Bid with caution. They also have a very poor list of shippers to chose from and do not automatically send out a list or even have one on their website. Very annoying.
