James, Thank you! We always try to balance the safety of your items in transit against the costs of the materials, but many of the items we are lucky enough to sell are unusual and hard to find, so we use a fair amount of foam, newsprint or bubble wrap, packing peanuts and filler paper and double-wall, heavy duty cartons in the hopes that you get what you want in good condition. We do not make shipping a profit center, but we are a small shop and pride ourselves on taking care of our buyers and sellers as well as possible.-Ian

Hi Andy, Thanks. I am not sure how I could have earned that fifth star, but I hope you'll let me know. I pulled your invoice, and I charged you $9 for my cost of materials which included a large, double-wall outer box, packing peanuts, a purpose-built inner box, an inflatable sleeve, plastic wrap for that sleeve, parafilm around the bottle stopper and neck, bubble wrap to protect the horse and rider and sleeve and the necessary stickers. I did not charge you for the 25 minutes I took to carefully pack all of this. We charged you $18.83 for the UPS shipping, which included the shipping charges and the UPS pick up fee. Other than that, there is the hammer price for the bottle and the stated buyer's premium and credit card fee (always optional-we take checks and wire transfers). The credit card fee does not completely cover the credit card processing costs, but lets us split these fees with the buyer. I want to continue to earn your business, but I am the ONLY auction house I know of which does NOT force you to use a third party shipper or make shipping a profit center.
