, We are disappointed to see your review. This is the VERY first we are hearing about your "ignored bids". You did not mention this to anyone here in the office during the many attempts our staff made to assist you or placate your demands. Logically though, why would we ignore bids? It is not in the best interest of our clients or our own bottom line. Perhaps, you could communicate directly with LiveAuctioneers Customer Service if you are experiencing timing issues placing bids with their bidding platform. As for the topics we did discuss with you-Payment-It is our policy to request a copy of a photo ID for new bidders (just as if you presented yourself in our gallery), so we may validate the credit card holder as is recommended by the banking industry for fraud protection. Shipping-While you requested in-house shipping, we informed you that this was not an option for your purchase due to the fragility of the items. Our shipping policy clearly states not all items are eligible for in-house shipping, and to inquire in advance of bidding if this is in fact a deal-breaker for you. We are an auction house specializing in identifying, selling, and appraising art and objects; not a professional packing and shipping company. The professional shippers recommended to bidders are excellent at what they do. Shipment of an item across the country should not have been a surprise after 40 + years in the business and would have been extra expense for you regardless of your use of in-house shipping or a third-party shipper. And as for the alleged hassle, we offered to do all the communication and facilitation with the third-party shipper for you. We're sorry our clear terms and conditions and extra efforts didn't please you in the end.

While we sincerely regret that you had a poor shipping experience; it is not in the end under Selkirk’s control once the items leave here. The Shipper you reference has been on our list for close to seven years, and not because we personally chose them, but because so many of our customers were choosing them and sending them our way with great results. We rarely hear any complaints, and if so, it has exclusively been with the timing of pick-ups and drop offs. While we cannot validate the professionalism and reliability of each and every employee or driver hired by a given shipping company, we strongly recommend all buyers communicate with more than one option to understand the company they are working with, timing expected, and purchase the appropriate insurance in case of unexpected issues or poor service. The company you chose from the list of 8 provided is a trucking company that does not base out of St. Louis and their speed of service is based on scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs that bring them both through our area and through a buyer’s location as they travel around the country. This information alone indicates a buyer should anticipate longer than usual wait times. We also recommend that if a buyer has an issue with a shipping company that addressing it with that specific company works best. However, if you needed our help, we ask you respectfully communicate the issue to us privately not in a misplaced rating of this company’s auction services. We are sorry again for the issues you experienced.
