A massive example, with symmetrical staghorn grip with flared and stepped bolsters, the curved, double-edged blades etched overall with pious Arabic inscriptions. A type commonly used by the Samaniyya Sufis under Mahdi Muhammad Ahmad. Last quarter of the 19th century. Minor pitting. Overall length 67.8 cm / 26 3/4". Condition III
