A Fine French Small-Sword With Chiselled And Gilt Hilt Circa 1760 With bright sharply tapering blade of hollow triangular section, the forte etched and gilt over both sides with dice, a bust, trophies, a flower-head centred on garlands, a scythe and cloud, and conjoined monogram 'CA' between decorative panels, hilt chiselled in low relief with differing trophies of arms each in a medallion suspended from ribbons between foliage, and flanked by foliate scrolls framing trellised panels, all against finely punched gilt grounds, and comprising double shell-guard, arms, lobed rear quillon, knuckle-guard, ovoidal pommel with brass button, and grip bound with copper ribbon and two types of twisted steel wire between Turks' heads 79.5 cm. blade This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
