Toned, one vertical and one horizontal crease, edgewear with a few short creased tears, some soiling, corners creased. Very good. MARKED “SPECIMEN COPY. NOT FOR SALE” AT THE UPPER PORTION, PRINTED IN RED. This plate was sold as a premium to purchasers of issues #1 and #2 of Frank Leslie’s new newspaper, Chimney Corner (with a price of $3.00 at the lower left corner). A rare and possibly unique copy of this important print.
