Item Details
Description
A 1958 Willy Hodl Record archtop guitar, no serial, natural finish. Owned and played by Randy Bachman, who has sold 40 million records worldwide as a member of The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and as a solo artist. One of a larger collection of German-made archtop guitars acquired by Randy over the last 30 years. Enamored with these largely unsung luthiers and the high degree of craftsmanship evident within each instrument, Randy has taken great care to assemble many of the finest and rarest examples from this era of European guitar production.
This Hodl-made archtop has a seven-piece maple neck, two-tone headstock, six white button tuners, and a bound 21-fret rosewood fretboard. Neck shape is very strange compared to modern guitars, almost a square with soft edges. Carved spruce top, ornate multi-layer binding, flame maple back and sides. Harp tailpiece engraved “Record” and adjustable rosewood bridge. Has a Willy Hödl label which can be seen through the bass side f-hole.
Includes padded soft case.
