One of the largest known examples made by Herman Metz. Herman Fredrick Metz was a fireman in St Joseph, MO who died tragically when he was thrown from the horse drawn fire wagon he was driving to a fire in 1918. Metz made a dozen futuristic looking tramp art pieces. After his death his widow wrapped the pieces in newspapers where they stayed for over 80 years before they were discovered by a family member. This example is in great condition with no losses or repairs. Metz also made elaborate horn furniture and he exhibited them in the 1904 World's Fair.
