Item Details
Description
Unknown American Maker. Produced Circa Late 1910's. Two tennis players engaged in competitive volley anchor the frontal plane of this bank. Again, spatial depth has been very skillfully rendered. In this instance, the tennis net, which dramatically recedes from left to right, is the visual mechanism by which spatial realism is created. Because of their uniquely complex engineering, these innovative sports-themed banks were undoubtedly made for limited commercial release rather than mass market consumption. At this time, they are the only two extant specimens we know of.
