Description

Fine American cherry Jackson press, the rectangular case fitted with a shaped and scrolled backsplash above a molded top, over two aligned frieze drawers retaining turned wooden pulls and key escutcheons, above a two-door cabinet opening to a shelved interior. The case is flanked by boldly turned and ringed front columns terminating in turned feet, with paneled sides and warm, richly figured cherry veneers throughout. The interior drawers exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery. The form reflects late Federal to early Classical influence, typical of Southern or Mid-Atlantic regional work. 52 in T, 43 1/2 in W, 23 in D.

Condition

Great condition overall with attractive surface and color. Minor scattered surface wear and light marks consistent with age and use. Interior clean; drawers operating smoothly.
