An original Revised Final Draft Screenplay from the production of the blockbuster classic Jaws (Universal, 1975).
This script is credited to novelist and screenwriter, Peter Benchley, and dated August 5, 1974. The 123-page typed script is bound with three brass brads and contains a yellow paper front and back cover. The front features the logo for Universal Studios, as well as the production number of the film, "02074."
According to the consignor, this draft of the script was completed by Benchley in the midst of the film's production (shooting dates were May 2 - September 18, 1974) as a last ditch effort for Benchley to retain sole screenwriting credit on the film because he knew that director, Steven Spielberg, had employed the services of actor and writer, Carl Gottlieb, to rewrite the script on set while the film was shooting. Therefore, Benchley wrote material based on footage that had already been shot for the film and wrote passages to match what would ultimately end up on-screen.
From the personal collection of a member of the film's post-production team.
