Pair Chippendale George II Mahogany Side Chairs
Item Details
Description
Circa 1750. Having been excellently carved with acanthus and cartouche details at all four legs leading down to a well executed harry paw foot. Sold from the Estate of Dr. Carl Freeman of Conway, South Carolina to benefit the Horry County Museum. The chairs are nice and sturdy. Each having slight shrinkage at the corner blocks consistent with age. Some very minor restorations at the edge of the back carved corner blocks. The interior frame corner braces are likely early replacements for stability but this looks to be 19th century, the back feet have had some restoration.
