A large early Victorian silver soup tureen, by S Roberts & Co, Sheffield 1839, of compressed oval lobed form with leaf scrolled edge and with two leaf capped loop handles, raised on four foliate scrolled legs, the cover with foliate scrolled ring handle, presentation inscription to 'William Gale Esquire by the Public and The Guardians of the Ulverstone Union to mark their respect for his services as a Magistrate and Vice Chairman of the Board of Guardians, March 1840' , engraved with a crest and an armorial for Gale, 43cm, 136oz
