Illustrated hard boards covered in the rather fragile and peeling clear cellophane ('cello'); large format: 8.1/4" x 10.1/4"; illustrated endpapers, the name of former owner is broadly written inside front cover and front endpaper [see photo]; unpaginated 30 pages, all pages color illustrated, very little soiling and wear, good condition.
Mary Poppins is a 1964 American musical fantasy comedy film directed by Robert Stevenson and produced by Walt Disney, with songs written and composed by the Sherman Brothers. The screenplay is by Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi, based on P.L. Travers's book series Mary Poppins. The film, which combines live-action and animation, stars Julie Andrews in her feature film debut as Mary Poppins, who visits a dysfunctional family in London and employs her unique brand of lifestyle to improve the family's dynamic. Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson, and Glynis Johns are featured in supporting roles. The film was shot entirely at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California, using painted London background scenes.
Howard Klau Forsberg (1918-2002) was an American artist and illustrator. He also taught at Art School in Connecticut. Forsberg created illustrations for Walt Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Life Magazine, Reader's Digest, Ladies' Home Journal and Collier's Magazine in a career that spanned 65 years. His work included magazine covers and story illustrations as well as ads and billboards for such commercial clients as Pepsi-Cola, Budweiser, Ford Motor Co. and Mattel Toys.
