Early 1900's scene, man holding a dowsing or divining rod in search of a water source. Sepia-tone photo print, created in the early 1990's for The American Heritage Galleries, after an original photo from The Missouri State Archives. 11" x 14" printed on cardstock. Dowsing is a type of divination using a forked rod, employed in attempts to locate ground water, buried metals or ores, gemstones, oil, claimed radiations , grave sites, malign 'earth vibrations' and many other objects and materials without the use of a scientific apparatus.
