The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by Noel Wiggins.

The canvas is unlined and likely retains its original stretchers. The paint surface is in good, clean condition. There are minor frame abrasions along the extreme edges. There is fine, thinly spaced craquelure in the lower left and right quadrants, most notably along the extreme right edge and at lower center in front of the lion sculpture nearest to the extreme bottom edge. Upon inspection under ultraviolet light, there are no visibly apparent signs of inpainting or other forms of restoration.
