Novissimum chronicon antique monasterii ad Sanctum Petrum Salisburgi ordinis Sancti Benedicti. Exhibens ordinem chronologicum & abbatum, qui per XII. Saecula ab anno 582. Usque ad annum respective 1782.
Beda Seeauer (1716-1785) who was Abbot of St. Peter's compiled this extensive chronicle of the Salzburg diocese from old sources and continued it up to his own time.

Fully illustrated with 76 portrait engravings representing each of the abbots of St. Peter's from
St. Rupert who founded the monastery in the late 6th or 7th century c.e. down to Beda Seeauer who became Abbot in 1753.
Five small illustrations representing early monograms, seals or symbols are also included with the text.
Title printed in red and black with engraved vignette of St. Peter's Monastery in Salzburg.
Double column Latin text (occasional passages in German) with decorative chapter head and tail pieces.
The dedication to Count Sigismund Christoph von Schrattenbach First Bishop of Salzburg contains an ornate half page engraved portrait of the Count.
Bound in contemporary blind-stamped pigskin, with clasps (one clasp is missing)
Very good condition. Binding is tight. The interior is clean with some age-toning.
St. Peter's Benedictine Monastery in Salzburg is one of the oldest monasteries in the Germanic lands.
Provenance:
With armorial bookplate of collector Franz Anton II, Graf Thun-Hohenstein (1809-1870), from his library at Schloss Tetschen (now Děčín, in the Czech Republic). The castle along with its library was purchased from the Thun family by Czechoslovakia in 1932.
The Thun und Hohenstein family, also known as Thun-Hohenstein, belonged to the historical Austrian and Bohemian nobility. One branch of the family lived at Děčín (Tetschen), Bohemia, for more than 200 years.
