The correspondences began when W.E. Brown was in Louisiana, but by 1890 he had relocated to Purcell, Indian Territory, along with his brother. There were several other stops along the way. One of the brothers was involved in zinc and tin mining as well, and there are letters with business letterheads and correspondence about ordering tin machines, postcards regarding stock purchases, real estate speculation, etc. A few of the postcards advertise upcoming performances at the opera house.
