Nice pair of large folio War of 1812 Engravings. Engraved by . Tiebout and painted by Thomas Birch. We know that they did restrike these particular prints but we are unsure if these are. They certainly have age telling by some of the minor damage and stains that they have. The titles are The “Representation of the U.S. Frigate Constitution, Isaac Hull Esq commander capturing the Britannia Majesty’s Frigate Guerriere, James R. Dacres” and “ The Representation of the U.S. Frigate United States, Stephen Decatur Esq. commander - capturing his frigate Britannic Majesty’s Frigate Macedonian, John S. Carden Esq. commander”. Both are in good condition but the one does show a tear repair and tear to upper right corner of image. Minor staining as well but present quite nice in amazing frames with a fabric type mat. Frames show minor losses to paint and gilt that would be an easy touch up. The sheets measure 20 1/4 by 27” and the frames measure 31” by 37 1/2”. These are Ex Graham Arader Galleries and retain sticker on back.
