Description
Encouraged by Victor Hugo, he embarked on a literary career. He started out as a drama critic for Le Temps, then wrote several satirical letters for Le Figaro under the name Farragus. Hostile to the Empire, he was twice imprisoned. Four autograph letters signed dated (Paris, 1866).
