(Disneyland, 1955-1966) An original stanchion created exclusively for the immensely popular “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” exhibit in Tomorrowland. Operating from August 1955 until 1966, the exhibition offered Guests the exciting opportunity to see motion picture props and full-scale sets of one of Walt’s favorite live-action films in person. As popular as it was, the exhibit was removed to make way for larger-scale and more “futuristic” attractions like Adventure Thru Inner Space. While “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” has many big fans and collectors, almost nothing from this exhibit survives today, making this stanchion extremely rare. Measuring 32.25" tall on a 12" diameter base, this exquisite piece exhibits a few scuffs, crazing, paint chips and cracks, and wear, some of which are intentional distress and the result of Park display, handling, and age.
