He also produced religious art, satire, and reformist propaganda, and made a significant contribution to the history of book design. He designed woodcuts, stained glass windows and pieces of jewelry. He is called "the Younger" to differentiate him from his father, Hans Holbein the Elder, a gifted painter of the late Gothic school.
