Potted in square rectangle, shallow vessel form, thick and large, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, with a straight open lip, the whole piece is raised on square corner shallow foot. The exterior decorated with hand-painting in cobalt blue under glazed, depicted of snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-shui waves in a dark blue color dragon squama to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames and vapors. And the inner central with officer in various pursuit among field. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the under glaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze and turning a deep blue-black. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.

Mark on upper mouth rim, a six blue script characters reign mark, Jiajing Reign Period of Great Ming Dynasty.
