BOXED ERNST PLANK STEAM & SAIL SHIP | Germany, circa 1890?s, incredible boat has hand painted hull with matching life boats, powered by a live steam engine with single oscillating cylinder, fully railed decking has one side a bit loose but is still intact for an easy repair if desired zinc hull typical of Plank?s early ships, includes wooden carrying case which protects the fragile sails and rigging, this boat is fabulous. Book example featured on page 59 of David Pressland?s "Great Book of Tin Toys." | Provenance: The John & Adrianne Haley Collection. | 25" l. | All original and complete with only light paint burn from the boiler heat at superstructure and sides of hull, (Excellent Condition) | $9,000 - $12,000
