Description
Large Bronze Statue, Scalp By Frederic Remington. Remington’s fourth bronze, and his first of a Native American subject, was copyrighted in December 1898 as “The Triumph.” The more common title, “The Scalp,” refers specifically to the lock of hair that the figure, mounted bareback on a horse, holds aloft in his right fist. The Metropolitan’s bronze is almost certainly a posthumous, unauthorized cast done by Roman Bronze Works. H 26" x W 9" x L 20"
