Description
This hand-drawn map depicts South E Street in Washington, D.C. It is extremely rare and was part of an exhibit for the Supreme Court case MORRIS v. UNITED STATES, dating from approximately 1879-1899. The case involved property rights claims by numerous landowners regarding reclaimed land and dredging adjacent to the Potomac River, covering 600 acres west of the Washington Monument, which included landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and Potomac Park. Despite the landowners' claims, the Supreme Court ruled against them in 1899. This artifact is in overall very good condition, measuring 8? x 8 3/4?, and comes with guaranteed authenticity.
