An autograph note signed "Ronald Reagan", expressing regrets at not being able to attend an honorary ceremony, later to be sent out as a wire telegram. California, n.d. (ca. February 7, 1967).1p, measuring 4.5" x 6.5". Reading in full: "Wire/ Wish I could be present to join you in honoring Tony Fazio. All Californians are indebted to one who serves so unselfishly." The note has been matted and framed along with a copy of the Western Union telegram to the overall size of 13.5" x 20.5". Boldly signed, near fine.
Reagan entered the political arena during the 1950s, initially self-identifying as a Franklin Democrat, but then transitioning to conservatism. He served as Governor of California from 1967-1975 before being elected as President and serving from 1981-1989. Tony Fazio is a political consultant who has worked for over 50 years on hundreds of campaigns.
