Description
This Vintage Marzi & Remy German Stoneware Punch Bowl –20 Cups and Glass Ladle is extremely difficult to find. Marzi & Remy were master craftsmen of steins and the quality of their products are well known from the late 1800’s. You will find other Tureens / Punch Bowls similar but they will not be Marzi & Remy. Gertz is the most common type and is much newer. This punch bowl has a hairline crack in the bottom but it does not come through to the outside (see photos). It will not affect the use of this item in any way. Measurements: 13 ½” tall with lid, 13” in diameter with handles, has a 6 ¾” opening and holds 1 gallon +. Cups hold 250 ml or 10oz- they stand 3 ½” tall with a 2 ¼” opening. Comes with 20 matching cups which is almost impossible to find. Simply one of the best you will find and you will not be disappointed in the quality of workmanship shown in this item.
A little history: The firm of Marzi & Remy was founded in the Westerwald town of Höhr in 1879 by Anton Marzi and Simon Peter Remy. By the end of the 19th century M&R employed more than 100 workers and had become one of Germany’s leading stoneware producers. Although it managed to survive two World Wars, the company found itself unable to cope with the rapidly changing marketplace of the late 20th century and was forced to permanently close its doors in 1994.; This Vintage Marzi & Remy German Stoneware Punch Bowl –20 Cups and Glass Ladle is extremely difficult to find.
