Pudding stone snuff bottles have recently become quite popular, perhaps because they resemble the shape of a dessert pudding, hence the name. The name "pudding stone" is obviously not derived from Chinese. Pudding stone is opaque, slightly translucent, and has a murky gel-like appearance, giving it a visually elastic texture resembling pudding, hence the name "pudding stone." Some scholars suggest that when different small stones gather, mix, and combine with white quartz, they form this type of stone, resulting in a round shape. This mysterious translucent stone material known as "pudding stone" played an important role in the Xia and Shang dynasties as early as 2300-1000 BC. The origin of "pudding stone" is within the territory of Gansu Province.Roughly 20th Century. Excluded stopper 2.2in (Left H), 1.5in (Left W); and 2.25in (Right H), 1.35in (Right W).
