  • Description: Victorian Independent Order of Odd Fellows Carved and Painted Wood Ceremonial Heart-in-Hand Warden’s Staff Circa 1890, original staff and motif. The heart-in-hand symbol has long been associated with the Odd Fellows, and is meant to symbolize charity given with an open heart, and “whatever the hand finds to do, the heart should go forth in wisdom.” This extraordinary piece can be attributed as a Warden’s staff due to the high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, such as the impeccable gilt and the detailed fingernails, veins, and proportions.
