RIAA Platinum LP award for Vanessa Williams album The Comfort Zone. Released on Aug. 20, 1991, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on April 30, 1992 for one million copies sold.

The album featured the #1 Billboard Hot 100 chart hit "Save the Best for Last", along with other hits "Running Back to You", "Just for Tonight" and the title track. The album itself reached #17 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart while topping the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally. It also did well on other world charts and picked up five Grammy award nominations. By 1996 the album was certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for three million sold.

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured sometime in 1992. It has a printed (not original) Vanessa Williams inscription and autograph on the CD. That makes this award approximately 31 years old. It is presented to radio executive Jhani Kaye of station KOST.

The award is in VG condition with only very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. While the award's manufacturer sticker is missing, there is adhesive residue in the typical size, shape and location as a sticker from Ill Eagle Enterprises.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
