Severus was a Christian writer active during the first century, a native of Aquitania.
Born to noble parents, Severus was influenced by his mentor, Saint Martin, to devote his wealth to the poor, and dedicating his life to the vision of God.
'Chronicle' is an extensive summary of sacred history, from the beginning of the world to Severus' lifetime.
His 'Life' of Saint Martin was an immensely popular work during the Middle Ages, and did much to establish a great reputation of the man.
Cataloguing a series of miracles, the work is not a traditional biography.
