[SHAKO PLAQUES]. Pair of French Shako Plaques. [France, ca. 1850s]. Yellow metal (tin?) plaques, two uncrowned eagle designs (one Grenadier eagle on a ball with lightning arrows, the other with a similar motif from the Empire 2e , but with a cut-out “3” representing the 3rd Regimental Guard (only in use for two years) - with screw and nut assembly on verso). Uncrowned eagles are less common than crowned examples. Sizes generally 4 ¾ x 4 ¾”. Some occasional age-toning, wear. Near fine.
