[BUTTRE, J. C. (1821-1893), engraver]. The Lincoln Family in 1861. [New York: J. C. Buttre, 1873]. Rare hand-colored engraving after a composite work by F. B. Carpenter (1830-1900). Sight approximately 20 ¼ x 24 ¾”. Matted and framed under glass. Frame size approximately 29 x 33 ½”. Print lightly toned, some visible foxing. Near fine. This unusual image was a composite made up of various photographs of members of Lincoln’s family, including at least one by Mathew Brady. Caption identifies the members of Lincoln’s family. Not examined out of frame.
