Item Details
Description
Two mid-19th C. pieces of stoneware attributed to Smith & Day pottery in Norwalk, CT. The one gallon stoneware ovoid crock almost seems to have initials of W C D in a stylized form, but that is open to your interpretation. The 3 gallon ovoid jug utilizes a different decoration attributed to the same pottery, in that of a swag about the shoulders. Hairline in the handle, both c.1850's give or take. Crock is 9" x 7.5" diam, jug is 14.5" x 9.5" diam.
