"The Golden Swan", story and illustrations by Louise Boylston Prechtl. Published by T.S. Denison and Company, Inc, Minneapolis, first edition, stated tenth printing, November 1971.

Illustrated hard boards [a little wear and fading]; large format: 8.3/4" x 11.1/4"; unpaginated [44 pages]; fully illustrated, discarded school library book with stamps and labels, good/ very good condition.

NitNoi lived on a houseboat, cradled on a river ("klong") in Siam. From somewhere, the little girl had heard of the "Golden Swan" and she longed to see this wonderful bird. Her Grandfather often told her that someday she would see the fabulous bird, but for little girls, patience is difficult. One day, he took her to Bangkok, but no matter where they looked, they found no bird. Weary they returned home, just as the Royal Barges came floating past for the Buddhist celebration. Leading the procession was a golden barge, the prow carved in the graceful head of a bird. It was the true Golden Swan.

"It all happened just as the yellow-robed priest said," smiled her grandfather. "The Golden Swan of happiness came to you."
