About the artist: Shostak David Zelmanovich
1923-2010
Ukrainian painter. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR. David Zelmanovich Shostak was born on July 6, 1923 in Kyiv.
In 1952 he graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute. Teachers - A. Shovkunenko, G. Melikhov, T. Yablonskaya, V. Kostetsky, V. Puzyrkov.
Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR.
He worked in the field of easel painting. Master of thematic paintings, portraits, landscapes and still lifes.
Since 1951 he has been a participant of city, republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions.
Main exhibitions:
1954 - Exhibition of fine arts of the Ukrainian SSR, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the reunification of Ukraine with Russia, State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow;
1954 - Exhibition of fine arts of the Ukrainian SSR, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the reunification of Ukraine with Russia, Kyiv, Simferopol;
1956 - Exhibition of works by marine painters, Gurzuf;
1957 - Exhibition of works by young artists, dedicated to the Festival of Youth of the Ukrainian SSR, Central Exhibition Pavilion, Kyiv;
1958 - Republican art exhibition dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Komsomol, Central Exhibition Pavilion, Kyiv;
2003 - Exhibition of paintings by David Shostak, Foundation for the Promotion of Arts, Kyiv;
2011 - Posthumous exhibition, National Museum of Art. Bogdan and Varvara Khanenkov, Kyiv.
Since 1977, D.Z. Shostak - "Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR".
Main works:
"From distant Russia. (Karl Marx and German Lopatin" (1963), "From the Russian people. Opening of the monument to T. G. Shevchenko in Petrograd by A.V. Lunacharsky. 1919" (1963-1964), "Kyiv. 1917" (1967), "Initiation into the arsenal" (1969), "In the Kiev underground (Hero of the Soviet Union V. Kudryashov and P. Mironichev) (1964-1965)," Portrait of the People's Artist of the USSR M. Deregus "(1972) and others.
The works of David Zelmanovich Shostak are presented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the National Historical Museum of Ukraine, in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
