Description
This set of MCM BLENDO Glassware made up of 6 Frosted Tumblers by West Virginia Glass is in excellent condition. I would say MINT, but I have never seen a brand new set. The Gold around the rim (defining characteristic) is in excellent condition. No scratches, etc. on the pink frosted glass. No chips, stains, etc. Each glass measures 5 1/2" tall, 3 1/4" lip diameter, 2" bottom diameter. You simply will not find a better set.
A little history: Blendo glassware was the brainchild of the West Virginia Glass Company of Weston, West Virginia. The company began manufacturing its new, modern glassware in the mid-1950s and sold it via Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. It was an immediate hit and affordable enough that average Americans could stock their kitchen with it. The items’ ombre coloring made them stand out. Each shade started at its darkest on the bottom of the item before fading halfway up to clear glass. During its late 1950s to 1960s heyday, Blendo was a staple at backyard barbeques and poker nights. The brand’s works were especially popular as wedding gifts. The brand’s most desirable aspect was its range of enticing ombre colors. The most common colors were bright yellow, orange, turquoise, purple, red, and pink/peach. A thin gold band encircled each piece’s top, setting Blendo apart from copycat brands.; This set of MCM BLENDO Glassware made up of 6 Frosted Tumblers by West Virginia Glass is in excellent condition.
