[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Quarter plate daguerreotype featuring a young carpenter posed with a wood plane and many chisels.
Quarter plate daguerreotype portrait of a standing carpenter wearing a pinstriped shirt, dark pants, and a watch chain, and having an abundance of hair, both atop his head and on his face. He holds an indecipherable tool down to his side with one hand, and a chisel against the table next to him with the other. A plane, additional chisels, and other tools are also arranged on the tabletop. (Significant scratching, spotting, and wiping throughout plate, spotting to mat and preserver; resealed 2007.) Housed in a half pressed paper case.
