Description

Ancestral figure of a bearded man with rifle in one hand and a knife or horn in the other, inlaid eyes, head carved with a hat or helmet, and geometric pattern to chest. Size 5 7/8" H

The Bembe people famous for their hunting and invocation of ancestral spirits with the use statuettes. Beembe priests would make appeals to the statues and would render the pierces in particularly fine form often with geometric incisions to the abdomen and shell inlay to the eyes.
