Description
White Hall, San Souci Palace, Potsdam, Germany. The influence of King Frederick's personal taste in the design and decoration of the palace was so great that its style is characterised as "Frederician Rococo". Good contrast and tonality. 8.25 x 10.625 in. 21 x 27 cm. Rev: Historic Windmill near Sans Souci Palace, Potsdam. The construction of a new mill, between 1787 and 1791, was financed by Frederick William II, because the mill had become famous far beyond the city of Potsdam as the result of a legend. The task was given to the master builder, Cornelius Wilhelm van der Bosch, who erected a bigger smock mill based on the Dutch prototype in place of the post mill. Good contrast and tonality. 10.625 x 8.5 in. 27 x 21.5 cm.
