Holocaust - The Shocking Story of the Boston Cocoanut Grove Fire

The Cocoanut Grove fire, the deadliest nightclub fire in history, occurred on November 28th, 1942 in Boston's Bay Village. Overcrowding, locked exits, flammable decorations, and poor ventilation all contributed to the horrific death toll of 492 people. This tragedy exposed lax fire safety measures, leading to stricter regulations nationwide. The Cocoanut Grove became a grim symbol of the importance of fire safety, with owner Barney Welansky ultimately facing manslaughter charges for the disaster.
